Legal Engineering

Legal Engineering means designing the tools and methods that help legal professionals work better, today with AI. Together we identify the tasks that keep coming back, I build the matching tools in ChatGPT or Claude, and I teach you how to use them.

Who is it for?

Lawyers, working alone or in a firm, independent legal professionals, legal assistants, and in-house legal departments, even when they consist of a single person. You already use ChatGPT or Claude, or are about to, and you want them to work according to your method.

Which tools can you get?

A few examples:

  • Skills for recurring legal tasks. A skill is a method written once, which the tool then applies on its own: reviewing a contract or written submissions against your checklist, checking the references cited, summarising a decision, drafting a routine letter in your style.
  • One project per case file. The documents and your instructions are in the same place: you get a timeline or a summary without explaining everything again each time.
  • Sorting incoming emails and requests: type of request, urgency, reply to prepare. You review, then you send.
  • Scheduled legal monitoring: every week, the new legislation and new decisions in your areas of law.
  • An agent in ChatGPT or Claude, for a multi-step task. An agent carries out several actions in a row on its own to reach a goal. For example, before a first meeting with a client: it reads the documents received, builds the timeline, then lists the questions to ask and the missing documents. You approve before each important action.

As a rule, everything is built in your own ChatGPT or Claude accounts: nothing to install, and the tools remain yours.

How does it work?

  1. A 20-minute call to understand your situation. It is free and there is no obligation.
  2. We review the tasks that keep coming back in your work, and together we choose which ones to hand over to AI, one or several. For each one, I tell you what suits it best: a skill, a scheduled task or an agent.
  3. For each task selected, I look at how it is done today: the steps, the documents, the person who approves.
  4. I design the method, including the points where you check the tool’s work.
  5. I build the tools in your accounts and test them on fictitious or pseudonymised documents.
  6. I teach you how to use them, and give you a user guide.
  7. A few weeks later, we review how things are going and adjust the tools to your actual use.

Afterwards, if you wish, I can provide ongoing support: updating the tool when ChatGPT or Claude change their features, or building others for your next tasks.

To go further than getting started with your tool, I also offer courses: AI for legal teams and law firms and Claude and ChatGPT: master the tool and build your first agent.

What do you get?

  • the list of your tasks that can be handed over to AI, with the right tool for each;
  • the tools set up in your accounts: instructions, skills, projects, scheduled tasks or agents;
  • the written method, with the checkpoints;
  • a user guide, and hands-on training with the tools.

Who checks the tool’s work?

You do. The tool prepares, it does not decide: it does not replace legal judgement, and every result is reviewed before it is used. I build the tool, but I do not give opinions on your cases.

Duration, location and price

  • Duration: depends on the number of tasks and tools to build.
  • Location: on your premises in Guadeloupe; depending on the project, in Martinique, French Guiana, Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy. Elsewhere, online by video conference.
  • Price: from €650 excl. VAT (one day), depending on the number of tasks and tools to build. The follow-up review is included; ongoing support is invoiced separately.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Legal Engineer?

A role still little known in France. A Legal Engineer connects three things: the law, the working methods of legal professionals, and digital tools, AI in particular. In practice, a Legal Engineer analyses how your tasks are done, redesigns them, builds the tools that help you, checks the quality of the results and the risks (confidentiality, personal data, errors), then trains the people who use them. I trained in law: I know legal work from the inside, and I set up each tool so that it follows your method.

Do we need technical skills?

No. I build the tool and teach you how to use it. All you need is a paid ChatGPT or Claude subscription: most of these features are not available in the free plans.

Which tools do you work with?

ChatGPT and Claude, with the subscription you already have or one we choose together: in most cases, everything stays in your own accounts. If your needs call for custom software, I design it with an engineer I work with: I define the legal method and the rules to follow, and he develops the tool.

Our documents are confidential: how do you handle that?

While building the tools, I work on fictitious or pseudonymised documents. Afterwards, the tool runs in your accounts, with a subscription set up so that your data is not used to train the models, and only the connections you need.

Where to start?

The simplest way is to talk it through. The call takes 20 minutes, is free and there is no obligation.
